Which do I prefer? *scratch head* Cham! Hard question! Time for in-depth analysis. xD
i) My parents felt that we'd have a better future here. I think they're right. 1 point to Aus.
ii) But even though there are better opportunities here, I'd still need to know how to use them... My time in St Thomas helped prepare me (often through force =P) for life here. I can't imagine how I'd be like now if I had left Mal in 2002 (as originally planned), so 1 point to Mal.
iii) People... I have more good friends in Mal than in Aus (but in time they'll start flying off to other countries too!), so 1 point to Mal.
iv) Finance... Higher gaji in Perth. (but cost of living also higher lah) 1 point to Aus.
v) Food... no need to say anything, 1 point to Mal. xD
vi) Geographic features... Perth is cleaner, has more comfortable weather (except summertime =P), has nicer parks, non-Milo beaches, better public transport... 1 point to Aus.
It's a draw! ^_^
Hehe, that's only part of the story lah... a "complete" analysis isn't possible (especially since I like to complicate things more than they need to be =P)
But anyway, to FINALLY answer your question, I prefer to stay here at the moment, because of the reasons outlined above, because I'm already established here and am content with Perth, because I can do more in my intended career in Aus than in Mal, etc.
But I'm still grateful for my opportunities in Mal too! It boils down to being proactive in making your home a good one, understanding why you love it, and not over-wallow in its negatives. This way we can make almost any place in the world our preferred place! =D
